RALLIES
RALLY DATES
At Otumoetai Te Puna Pony Club we usually hold rallies fortnightly on the weekend in Spring & Autumn.
During summer & daylight saving we usually hold rallies on a Wednesday at 5pm. In winter we break for 2 - 3 months.
CERTIFICATES
Certificates are an essential part of the Pony Club system, providing incentive and encouragement to learn and improve at all levels.
Pony Club members study for their certificates at rallies and can take exams to test their knowledge throughout their time at Pony Club.
D, D+ & C certificate exams are organised at OTPC.
C+, B, H & A certificate exams are organised at Tauranga Pony Club for all 4 branches.
RALLY ATTENDANCE FOR EXAMINATIONS AND COMPETITIONS
The Riding Member must have attended a minimum number of working rallies in the twelve (12) months preceding the examination date or closing date for entries to inter Club, inter Area, National or International competition.
Riders who do not hold a certificate must attend a minimum of five (5) working rallies. Three (3) of these attendances must be the combination of rider and mount that are sitting the examination or entering the competition.
Riders who hold a D or D+ or C certificate must attend a minimum of five (5) working rallies. Three (3) of these attendances must be the combination of rider and mount that are sitting the examination or entering the competition.
Riders who hold a C+ certificate must attend a minimum of four (4) working rallies. Two (2) of these attendances must be the combination of rider and mount that are sitting the examination or entering the competition.
Riders who hold a B or H and A certificates must attend a minimum of three (3) working rallies. One (1) of these attendances must be the combination of rider and mount that are sitting the examination or entering the competition.
RALLY MARKING
The purpose of the Gear Inspection is to ensure that the horse is fit to be ridden, the saddlery and equipment are safe, correctly fitted, and conforms to competition rules. The Gear Inspection also ensures that the rider is in the correct uniform, and that the combination of rider and horse are well presented.
At Otumoetai Te Puna Pony Club we mark attendance & turnout at rallies looking for the following:
Rider:
1. Correct clean uniform (includes hat cover)
2. NZPCA Helmet tag (Blue)
3. No jewellery or taped
4. Hair tied &/or hairnet
5. Cleaned riding boots
Horse:
1. Hooves oiled
2. Well groomed (no surface dirt)
3. Main & tail brushed
4. Clean eyes, nose
5. Horse in good body condition
Gear:
1. Clean bit & correctly fitted
2. Clean & soft gear
3. Clean saddle blanket
4. Girth tightened
5. Stitching safe - reins, girth & stirrup leathers
